Success for our new cinema screenings

Thank you to all of you who came along to make our very first *cinema* DocHeads a cracking success!

What a fabulous night it was! A sold-out, packed-out cinema always makes us very happy so we were thrilled to have a full house for our launch, which features some of the most exciting documentary filmmakers of the moment, including “Notes on Blindness” directors Pete Middleton & James Spinney who joined us for the Q&A.

And luckily you agreed. Feedback from the night was overwhelmingly positive, calling the night “insightful”,”inspiring”, “stellar”,a “fantastic opportunity to see new and innovative documentaries in the mainstream”, and our personal favourite – “more please!”.

More? Well why not! We’re screening this programme across some of our favourite cinemas & venues over the coming month – our next screening is at the absolutely brilliant Lexi Cinema this Thursday 23rd and we’d love you to join us.

Every successful screening helps us show how short documentaries belong on the big screen, helping us to create more opportunities for filmmakers and audiences alike.

Book your tickets here & don’t forget to invite your friends too: https://thelexicinema.co.uk/film/docheads

Would you like a cinema release for your short doc?

DocHeads has teamed up with Film London to launch an exciting new programme of short docs playing exclusively across some of London’s best cinemas – including Bertha DocHouse, the Lexi and many more.

The run will launch mid-March and we are taking submissions now – so check the conditions below and submit today. Deadline for submissions is 10th February, so don’t delay!

Conditions and How to Submit:

Send a password-protected link of your film to info@docheads.org with “Docheads Cinema Submission” in the subject line. Please include a brief (100 word max.) description about your film and a brief bio of the filmmaker (again, 100 words).

  1. Films must be premieres – that means they haven’t launched at a film festival and are not online.
  2. We consider films from 3 – 15 minutes long. They must be a documentary. We are not programming short fiction films.
  3. You must hold the rights for your film to be screened
  4. We are programming already made films only. Please don’t contact us with your ideas.
  5. Deadline for submissions is midnight, 10th
  6. Doc Heads will choose 5 films to launch the cinema programme and selected filmmakers will be contacted directly.
  7. If selected, filmmakers must be available to attend screenings for Q&As
  8. The first programme will be announced on 23rd February
