Hunger Competition Finalists: Day 3

Devil in the Room is the third documentary short in our £5K competition. Coming from filmmaker Carla MacKinnon the film looks at the effects of sleep paralysis which is a condition where an individual wakes up from sleep but is unable to move. Fear is a side effect of the paralysis which is strongly conveyed in MacKinnon’s part-science document and part surreal art-horror film. Devil in the Room was supported by Wellcome Trust Arts Award and is part of The Sleep Paralysis Project. It has been tremendously successful on the festival circuit screening at more than 40 events, festivals and conferences.
